Google & Ad Words

Reach the world using social media

Though not strictly tied to optimization of the web site content, AdWords can be used to place ads on Google and other services. These campaigns must be developed carefully as the costs can rise quite rapidly. If you would like more information on how you can run your own AdWord campaign, call BOOTIT today and let us help you design a campaign that generates results while maintain your budgetary requirements.

This is Google’s main advertising product and main source of revenue. Google’s total advertising revenues were $USD 28 billion in 2010. AdWords offers  -per-click (CPC) advertising, cost-per-thousand-impressions or cost-per-mile (CPM) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for text, banner, and rich-media ads.

Google automatically determines the subject of pages and displays relevant ads based on the advertisers’ keyword lists. AdSense publishers may select channels to help direct Google’s ad placements on their pages, to increase performance of their ad units. There are many different types of ads that can run across Google’s network, including text ads, image ads (banner ads), mobile text ads, and in-page video ads.

Google AdWords’ main competitors are Yahoo and Microsoft’s AdCenter.

In 2010, Yahoo formed a partnership with Microsoft, giving Microsoft the control over powering the Yahoo search marketing ads. Both accounts are now run through Microsoft AdCenter. When ads are displayed on Yahoo now, it is powered by Microsoft AdCenter and is run through the Microsoft software interface.

Something to think about.

The leading search engines, such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically.

Some search engines operate a paid submission service that guarantee crawling for either a set fee or cost per click. Such programs usually guarantee inclusion in the database, but do not guarantee specific ranking within the search results.
